Cacharro De Oro is Portuguese for "Hound of Gold" - it is a mouthful so we just affectionately call him Jo.
Jo is our Maltese little boy. We adopted him on March 18, 2008 when he was 8 weeks old.

Here he is on July 12, 2008 at 6 months old.
Jo is small for his breed - today he weighs 4 lbs 3 oz.

You can't really tell but he has two ponytails on the top between his ears - to keep the hair out of his eyes. We bathed and brushed him and took his picture so you could see how he looks with long hair, and then we promptly cut his hair - as he seems to be getting warm and tired when he goes out for his daily run in the summer heat. If left alone, Maltese hair will grow till it touches the floor.

Maltese have hair, not fur, with no undercoat. Jerry is very allergic to pet dander,
but is not bothered at all by Jo.

Here he is laying down for a brief moment - you can see the little black rubber band
we used for one of his ponytails.

If we were actual photographers, we might be able to capture Jo in action without getting only a blur of white fluff. But alas, we are not that skilled. Jo is a very fun loving and friendly pup. He is very popular with the children, ladies and pretty much everyone in our neighborhood - except the people next door who have a St. Bernard and very large Boxer who get excited when Jo tries to come near, being so large it is a big job for our neighbors to control their dogs when Jo is around, so they'd just as soon he stayed inside.

Jo is remarkably intelligent and very expressive. He has learned a number of commands and is quite obedient. He is very affectionate and loyal.
One of his cutest tricks is to dance around on his hind legs for treats.

The only time he seems to bark at anything is when he doesn't know what is making a sound - like at night when it is dark - he can't see and growls and barks at sounds till he knows what is causing them. Me, for instance - I come into the bedroom in the dark and if he has been awakened, he will bark as I come in because he doesn't know who I am till I speak. He enjoys a good conversation and has a variety of charming vocalizations aside from barking.

I am used to cats. It surprised me that Jo would sleep through the night with us in our bed. I worried for a long time that he might get squished - so I was nervous having him in bed with us. But so far,
he seems to keep out of harms way.

Jo is pure-bred and AKC registered and ready to mate. He has had all his shots and is in perfect health.
You will adore a fluffy little friend like Jo, so if you have a female Maltese or other small dog you want to
breed with a purebred male Maltese - we live in Saratoga Springs, Utah and would be glad to have you bring
your girl to breed with Jo. We live in a beautiful area so you will enjoy visiting the area.

Jo's stud fee is $400 to breed with any dog, and $500 for breeding with a fully papered Maltese.
